THE BASIC
Alpine, Texas – The Eagles roared back in the second half outscoring Sul Ross State 40-30, but still came up short 64-59 Saturday in American Southwest Conference play. Sul Ross held a 34-19 advantage at halftime. The Eagles improved to 40 percent from 22 percent in the second half, fueling a comeback late in the game. Grayson Nix hit a three-pointer at the 4:36 mark to pull within 59-52. The Eagles continued to surge and made it 59-57 on a pair of free throws with 2:53 remaining. However, the Eagles would score only two more points. Nix led the Eagles with 15 points.
