THE BASIC
Clarksville, Ark. – Kamren Roelke hit a driving layup with 6.7 seconds remaining in the game to lift the Eagles to a thrilling 96-94 win over Austin College Saturday. Roelke took the ball one-on-one at the top of the key and then drove past his defender on the right to score the game-winner. Austin College did get a shot off with three seconds left, but the three-pointer was off and the Eagles secured the game. Both teams shot a solid percentage from the field in the fast-paced game. The Eagles hit 50 percent of their shots, while Austin College made 46 percent from the floor. Each team hit ten three-pointers in the game. The Eagles opened the game with a 16-point lead before settling for a 52-49 halftime advantage. Grayson Nix was nearly unstoppable in the second half scoring 24 points. Nix hit 9-of-14 from the floor, which included a trio of three-pointers in the second half. The Eagles had to make a comeback late after leading most of the game. Austin College led 92-88 with less than three minutes left, but Nix scored six straight points to even the game 94-94. The Eagles forced a turnover to get the ball back with 30 seconds remaining and Roelke did the rest. Nix finished with 37 points on 14-of-22 shooting from the floor. He ended the game with four three-pointers. Roelke had 15 points.
