Nix, Powell Garner Conference Honors

Grayson Nix and Kyron Powell earned All-Conference honors.

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks men's basketball players Grayson Nix and Kyron Powell received recognition from the American Southwest Conference, it was announced today.

Nix, a junior guard from Red Oak, Okla., was named to the All-ASC Third Team. Powell, a freshman guard from Fort Worth, Texas, was named to the ASC All-Freshman Team.

Nix started in all 24 games and led the team in scoring (19.5), rebounds (6.9) and three-pointers (54). He hit 100-of-130 (76%) from the free throw line and also made 54-of-154 (35%) of his three-point shots. He reached double figures in scoring in 23 of the Eagles 24 games. The 6-foot-3 versatile guard scored a season-high 37 points on two occasions. He posted four double-doubles during the season, and against Belhaven, he scored 24 points, pulled down ten rebounds and dished out seven assists. In a win against Sul Ross State, he hit 6-of-10 three-pointers to finish with 37 points. He hit two or more three-pointers in 15 games. He finished third in the league in scoring and ranked sixth in rebounding. Additionally, among ASC players, he ranked 12th in free throw percentage and sixth in three-pointers made per game. He set an ASC single game record going 17-for-17 from the free throw line against Texas Dallas. 

Powell started in 12 games and played in 23 while averaging 9.5 points and 2.1 assists per game. Powell led the team in three-point percentage (38.5%), hitting 40-of-104 from beyond the arc. The 6-foot-1 scoring guard hit a three-pointer in 18 of his 23 games. He scored a season-high 22 points against McMurry. Against Austin College, he drilled four three-pointers and scored 17 points. He hit two or more three-pointers in 12 games.
