Eagles ASC Opener Ends In 0-0 Tie

Clarksville, Ark.-Hardin-Simmons University survived a flurry of last second shots as Ozarks missed a couple of opportunities to score in the second overtime and ended with a 0-0 tie in its American Southwest Conference opener Thursday.
Ozarks (5-2-2, 0-0-1 ASC) nearly ended the match twice in the second overtime, but couldn't find the back of the net on a pair of shots, one with eight seconds remaining and the other with only three seconds left. Ozarks got outstanding defensive play to keep the Cowboys (2-3-2, 0-0-1 ASC) off the board. Travis Leach made a big defensive play in the 70th minute when he kicked a ball away from Hardin-Simmons' midfielder Kevin McNeal on a breakaway. In overtime, both teams had trouble getting any offensive rhythm. Ozarks' starting goalkeeper Austin Benner made a diving stop in the first overtime on Dillon Parkhill's shot with 1:40 left.
