Men’s Soccer Team Eliminated From ASC Tournament

Richardson, Texas-Concordia University Texas scored twice in the first half and added another goal in the second half to eliminate the University of the Ozarks men's soccer team 3-0 Thursday in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament.

Concordia (13-4-0) came out in the first half and held possession for the first 15 minutes and eventually were able to score. The Tornados were awarded a penalty kick in the 19th minute and connected to hold a 1-0 advantage. The Eagles (10-6-3) did counter with an attack after the penalty kick and nearly tied the match. Sean Garcia took a shot that headed toward the goal before a defender kicked it out just before crossing the goal line. Stewart Mena had a good look a few minutes later, but couldn't connect. Concordia then scored in the 33rd minute to hold a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. Ozarks created additional scoring opportunities in the second half, recording six shots. Ozarks held a 6-5 shots advantage in the second half. Concordia would add another goal in the 87th minute. Luis Mena posted three saves in goal for Ozarks. The Eagles totaled seven shots on goal in the match. Garcia had four shots to lead Ozarks.

Under first-year head coach Aaron Brueckner, the Eagles advanced to the postseason for the 14th time in program history.
