THE BASICS
The Eagles won their second conference match of the season with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over East Texas Baptist University Friday. The Eagles scored both goals in the second half, with the first coming in the 79th minute and the second coming in the 83rd minute. Both teams played tough defense in the first half as quality shots were hard to come by. The Eagles produced a stronger second half than the Tigers. The Eagles began to frustrate the Tigers into yellow cards and then were awarded a penalty kick in the 79th minute. Charleus Emmanuel Ritch buried the shot in the back of the net to give the Eagles a lift of momentum. The Eagles would all but cap the match with a second goal from Alain Claude in the 83rd minute. On the attack, Daniel Lyon found Claude to receive the assist. The Eagles produced five shots in the second half alone. Logan Valestin notched the shutout and had a huge save in the second half. Dominic Wood took a wide open shot from 20 yards out in the 67thminute, but Valestin knocked it away with a diving stop to his left. The team's three seniors – Paul Bien-Aime, Pedro Gallaga and Logan Valestin - were honored prior to the match.
