Day One Of SCAC Championships Completed

The Eagles completed day one of the SCAC Championships.

San Antonio, Texas-The men's swim and dive team completed day one of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in San Antonio Thursday. 

The men are in sixth place at the Championships with two days to go.

In the 200 free relay, Michael Walkine, Nicolai Van Zyl, Joel Coppernoll and Nicolas Dunsworth placed seventh with a time of 1:33.91. Gustavo Almaraz, Isaiah Dial, Michael Vargas and Bertram Gibson placed 13th with a time of 1:40.69. In the 500 free, Coppernoll swam a 5:00.87 for 12th place. In the 50 free, Van Zyl swam a 23.01 for 21st place and Walkine swam a 23.32 for 24th place. The Eagles had the next six swimmers – Dial (24.51), Gibson (25.13), Almaraz (25.87), Vargas (26.85) and Jakobe' Durant (27.06). In the 400 medley relay, Coppernoll, Walkine, Dial and Van Zyl placed sixth with a time of 3:53.48. Vargas, Dunsworth, Almaraz and Gibson posted a time of 4:04.60 for 13th place.
