Conway, Ark. - The men's swim and dive team placed second at the Hendrix College Winter Invite over the weekend in Conway.
In the 500 free, Isaiah Dial placed second with a time of 5:14.81. Ethan Spillers set a new program record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.55 to win the race. In the 50 free, Nicolai Van Zyl placed sixth with a time of 22.67. The Eagles won the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:41.96. The team consisted of Spillers, Van Zyl, Joel Coppernoll and Dial. Spillers set a new program record in the 100 back with a time of 54.35. The Eagles placed second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:42.35. The team consisted of Michael Vargas, Van Zyl, Spillers and Coppernoll. Spillers won the 400 IM with a time of 4:16.40, a new school record. Coppernoll placed second in the 100 back with a time of 56.41. Van Zyl placed second in the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:01.02, a new school record. Dial was fifth in the 100 fly with a time of 58.46. Van Zyl won the 200 free with a time of 1:52.37. Spillers placed second in the 100 IM with a time of 54.50, a new school record. Tyler Hamrick placed second with a time of 2:16.30 in the 200 back. Matthew Shelton placed fifth in the 100 free with a time of 54.62. Spillers was second in the 200 breast stroke with a time of 2:13.56, a new school record. Gustavo Almaraz placed second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:15.39. The Eagles placed second in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:21.58. The team consisted of Spillers, Dial, Van Zyl and Coppernoll. In the 1650 free, Coppernoll placed second with a time of 17:34.33. Michael Vargas set a new school record in the one-meter 6 dive competition at 152.25.
