Men's Swim And Dive Team Wins Austin College Invite

The Eagles won the Austin College Invite.

Sherman, Texas - The men's swim and dive team had a great day in the pool winning the Austin College Invite Saturday in Sherman, Texas.

The Eagles won the invite with a score of 541, topping both Austin College and Centenary College. The Eagles won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.67. Wiley Grantham won the 1650 free with a time of 19:44.60. Joel Coppernoll won the 200 free with a time of 1:53.16. Nicolai Van Zyl was the team's top finisher in the 100 breast stroke placing second with a time of 1:04.70. In the 200 fly, Isaiah Dial was the team's top finisher placing second with a time of 2:18.40. In the 50 free, Matthew Shelton placed fourth with a time of 25.62. Michael Vargas won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 134.45. In the 100 free, Ethan Spillers was the team's top finisher at third place swimming a 51.29. Joel Coppernoll broke the program record in the 200 back swimming a 2:06.50. He also won the event. Van Zyl won the 200 breast stroke with a time of 2:23.72. Nicolas White placed second in the 500 free with a time of 5:42.18. In the 100 fly, Dial placed second with a time of 59.25. Vargas also won the three-meter diving competition with a score of 126.0. The Eagles placed second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:34.99.
