Tennis Athletes Achieve ITA Academic Honors; Men’s Program Earns Team Award

ITA names six athletes to Academic Team.

Clarksville, Ark.-Six members of the University of the Ozarks men's and women's tennis teams received academic recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), it was announced by college tennis' governing body Tuesday (July 24).

On the men's side, Cole Lankford, Jonah Martinez, Max Mathis, Walker Murray and Melle Van Duijn received the Scholar-Athlete award. Under head coach Jeff Kutac, the men's team also received the team academic award for maintaining a combined grade point average (GPA) above 3.20. The Eagles posted a 3.20 GPA as a group.
    
On the women's side, Karlee Hart earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a letterwinner, maintain a GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) and have been enrolled at their present school at least two semesters.

On the court, the women's team qualified for the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament for the third consecutive season, while the men's program advanced to the Tournament for the fifth straight year.
