Dunsworth Appointed To NCAA Role

University of the Ozarks President Richard L. Dunsworth, J.D., has accepted an appointment as chair of the NCAA Division III Infractions Appeals Committee beginning immediately.

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks President Richard L. Dunsworth, J.D., has accepted an appointment as chair of the NCAA Division III Infractions Appeals Committee beginning immediately.

His term as Chair will end in 2023. Dunsworth is also currently serving as a member of the NCAA III Presidents Council. Dunsworth previously served on the NCAA Division III Financial Aid Committee, a role he held for five years.

According to the NCAA, the Infractions Appeals Committee hears and acts upon appeals of the findings of major violations and/or the prescription of penalties by the Committee on Infractions involving NCAA III member institutions. The five-member committee will include members who not only have experience with the administration of a Division III athletics programs, but also members that have experience with and an understanding of administrative hearing processes and procedures. 

Dunsworth became the 25th president of the university on June 1, 2013. Under his leadership, enrollment at the private, four-year Presbyterian-affiliated university has increased more than 40 percent—from 585 in 2013 to 825 in 2019—and the university has raised more than $55 million for scholarships and facilities in its current Climb Higher Campaign.
