Softball Team Splits Double-Header With University of Dallas

GAME ONE
Overview:
The Eagles pounded out 13 hits and starting pitcher Jaela Martin threw a complete game five-hitter to push the Eagles to an 8-2 win. Third baseman Riki Haase had monster game going 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Sierra Jansa followed with a 2-for-3, three RBI performance. University of the Dallas took the lead first but it didn't last long as the Eagle bats got going in the fourth and fifth innings. The Eagles scored three runs on three hits in the fourth and four runs on six hits in the fifth. Jasna connected for a two-run single in the fourth and Caley Robles followed with an RBI double. Doing the damage in the fifth were Brittney Dean with an RBI double, Haase with a two-run homer and Jasna with an RBI double. Aryonnah Briggs recorded an RBI single in the sixth. Martin shut down the Crusaders in the first and second innings. She then retired the side in the fourth and fifth innings. In the seventh, Martin forced three straight ground outs to end the game. Martin finished with two strikeouts and did not allow a walk.

GAME TWO
Overview:
In game two, the Crusaders shut down the Eagles in the final four innings to break a tie and secure a 8-4 win. The Eagles scored first with an RBI single from Allyson Fultz. The Crusaders came back and plated four runs in the third, but the Eagles responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to even the score 4-4. Haase doubled in a run and scored on the same play due to an error. Blaise English singled in the other run. From there, the Crusaders didn't allow the Eagles to score. It wasn't without chances though as the Eagles loaded the bases in the fourth but couldn't produce a run. Macy Pelts went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. Haase and Britney Kirk had two hits.

Notables:
Jaela Martin tossed a five-hit complete game and did not issue a walk. Offensively, Haase went 6-for-7 with three doubles and a home run in the two games. Pelts went a perfect 4-for-4.

The Eagles will host No. 4 East Texas Baptist University April 16-17 in a three-game series.
