THE BASICS
Abilene, Texas – After a close two and one-half quarters, Hardin-Simmons University pulled away from the Eagles to gain a 71-47 win Thursday night. In the third quarter, the Eagles climbed within 34-27 with less than three minutes remaining. But the Cowgirls immediately scored 13 points to head into the final quarter with a 47-32 advantage. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles got stuck on 34 points for over four minutes while the Cowgirls built a lead of over 20 points. Hardin-Simmons hit 43 percent from the floor while the Eagles made 33 percent. Both teams hit six three-pointers. Stevie Perkins led the Eagles with 10 points.
