THE BASICS
Abilene, Texas – Brittany Temple sank two clutch free throws with two seconds left in the game to cap a thrilling 73-71 win over McMurry University Saturday in Texas. The Eagles led 69-64 with less than a minute remaining before McMurry made things interesting down the stretch. The Eagles went 2-of-4 from the free throw line with a lead to allow McMurry to eventually tie the contest. McMurry tied the game with seven seconds left. The Eagles benefitted from hitting 28-of-54 (51.9%) from the floor. The Eagles had to overcome a 16-9 first quarter deficit and answered by scoring 21 second quarter points thanks to hitting 80 percent from the field. In the second half, the Eagles used strong bench play to create an advantage. McKenzie Greeson provided a spark off the bench with a team-high 19 points. She went 7-of-9 from the floor with three three-pointers. Stevie Perkins controlled the paint by scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Kerigan Bradshaw added 14 points.
