THE BASICS
Clarksville, Ark.– The Eagles gave nationally ranked University of Mary Hardin-Baylor all it wanted Thursday only to have the Crusaders escape Mabee Gymnasium with a 73-67 win. The Eagles willed their way to a 35-33 halftime lead. The Eagles hit 6-of-11 from the field in the first quarter and 5-of-8 in the second quarter. Kerigan Bradshaw exploded for 11 points in the second quarter alone thanks to a 6-of-6 performance from the free throw line. But the much bigger Crusader team came out in the second half and outscored the Eagles 23-13 in the third. But the scrappy Eagles didn't go away. In the fourth, the Eagles pulled within 64-58 around the four minute mark. 30 seconds later Bradshaw canned a three-point shot. The Crusaders answered but the Eagles again battled back behind a pair of Stevie Perkins shots with less than a minute to play. The Crusaders hit a free throw with 22 seconds left, however Bradshaw responded with a jumper to make it 72-67. From there, the Eagles didn't score again. Bradshaw led the team with 23 points. McKenzie Greeson hit all three of her three-point attempts to score 12 points. The Eagles outshot the Crusaders 53 percent to 41 percent from the field. The Eagles drilled 7-of-11 from long-range.
