THE BASICS
Jackson, Miss. – The Eagles had a strong start to the game only to have Belhaven University pull away for a 60-48 win Saturday. The Eagles owned the first five minutes of the game, but ended the first quarter facing a 16-12 deficit.  Belhaven then held a 36-23 halftime lead and remained in front in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Ganae Gaines hit a three-pointer to pull the Eagles within 49-41 at the 7:20 mark. But the Eagles couldn't chip away to get within striking distance. Stevie Perkins posted a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
