Clay Target Team Impressive At ACUI Arkansas Championships

Tillar, Ark.-The women's and men's clay target team had an outstanding weekend at the Association of College Unions International Arkansas Collegiate championships in Tillar, Arkansas.

The program won the International Trap competition with a score of 474. Ozarks defeated four other teams, including Florida State University and University of Alabama for the title. The International Trap team included Jeff Proctor, Grace Brown, Summer Sanders, Regan Puryear and Gavin Wheeler. Ozarks would place third overall in International Skeet.
    
Led by first-year head coach Caleb Hemphill, Ozarks had a number of impressive performances individually. Brown placed second overall in American Skeet with a score of 91. Sanders and Flora King also finished in the top-10 in that event. In the men's competition, Puryear placed eleventh in American Skeet with a score of 96. There were 131 competitors in his division. Brown won the female division of International Trap with a score of 98. Sanders followed with a second-place finish with 96 points. Proctor won the International Trap competition with a score of 108. Puryear placed sixth in the event with a score of 93. There were 44 entrees in the event on the men's side.

Brown ranked third in the American event HOA standings. Sanders ranked eighth, while King was fifteenth. Brown was third in the All American events HOA standings with 231 points. Sanders was second in the International events HOA standings with a score of 138. Proctor was the champion in International events HOA standings. He had a total score of 188.

Ozarks will not compete until March 2017, where it will participate in the Arkansas State Collegiate Shoot in Tillar.
