Shelby Skaggs Inducted Into Oklahoma Trapshooting Hall of Fame

University of the Ozarks standout clay target shooter Shelby Skaggs was inducted into the Oklahoma Trapshooting Hall of Fame June 2 in Oklahoma City.

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks standout clay target shooter Shelby Skaggs was inducted into the Oklahoma Trapshooting Hall of Fame June 2 in Oklahoma City.

Skaggs, a sophomore from Nash, Oklahoma, is one of 100 competitive shooters to be enshrined into the Hall of Fame. Established in 1968 by Hilly Sailer, the Oklahoma Trapshooting Hall of Fame is made up of elite shooters who are recognized for their outstanding record of accomplishment in the sport.

Skaggs was third overall in the women's HOA at ACUI Nationals this season and posted several top-10 finishes there. She helped the program to a third-place finish at Nationals, its highest finish ever at the competition. Skaggs was the women's HOA at the University of Missouri Tundra Shootout and Oklahoma State University this season. 

In addition to her success at Ozarks, she has been an All-American during her shooting career. From 2015-2019, Skaggs won an array of awards, including HAA and HOA, at state competitions in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. Skaggs won the Lady 1 in singles and doubles at the Oklahoma State Shoot from 2016-2018.   

She is a AAA 27 AA shooter. She competes with a F3 Blaser for Trap, Double and Handicap. Skaggs competes with a F16 Blaser Sporting for Sporting Clays, Super Sporting, Bunker Trap, Skeet and International Skeet.

The program has had a remarkable run of success recently finishing third overall this season at ACUI Nationals while producing three individual nationals championships over the last three years.
