Oklahoma City, Okla.-The University of the Ozarks placed four in the top-four at the Oklahoma City University Open Sunday.
Devon Jackson placed third to lead the Eagles and is now a two-time place winner at the OCU Open. Jackson defeated Dustin Miller, who is ranked No. 1 in NAIA from Lyon College, with a fall (3:55). Wrestling in the 125-pound open division, Jackson lost his next match against Elijah Hale by decision (9-4). Jackson then took down Tyson Hume from Ouachita Baptist by fall (6:34). Jackson followed that by defeating Miller with a decision (6-5) to finish third. Siaygnoun Hnamnhouane defeated his teammate Jon Gonzales in the open 141-pound division by a decision (6-3) to place fourth. In the open 149-pound division, Mario Vasquez defeated Gabe Perez from Wayland Baptist by fall (1:52). Vasquez then won by fall (1:52) against Robert Shirley from New Mexico Highland to place fourth. Tracy Eitel defeated his teammate Jacob Sherrill by decision (4-1) to post a win in the 174-pound open division and place fourth.
In the freshman/sophomore 125-pound division, Corey Muniz won a pair of matches, first by a major decision and then by a tech fall. Jaylen York wrestled in the freshman/sophomore 149-pound division and recorded a win by decision. York won twice in the consolation round. In the freshman/sophomore 285-pound consolation round, Matthew Garcia won by decision twice. Cameron Barnes won by sudden victory in the 285-pound consolation round. Adolfo Sotolongo won by fall and by decision in the freshman/sophomore 285-pound consolation round.
Ozarks will travel to Little Rock to face Arkansas Baptist November 16.
