Jackson, Rankin Head To NCAA III Wrestling National Championships

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks wrestling program will aim for even more history this weekend at the NCAA Division III Championships. The Eagles had its first-ever national qualifiers and are now focused on winning its first match in the national arena. The National Championships will take place Friday and Saturday, March 9 and 10, at the Cleveland Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio hosted by Baldwin Wallace. Devon Jackson (125) and Nathaneal Rankin (133) both advanced to the national championships after finishing third at the regional championships February 24-25. At the national championships, Jackson will face Carlos Fuentez from Wheaton (Ill.), who has posted a 34-2 record this season, in his first match. In Rankin's first match, the freshman will face Ricky Cavallo from Johns Hopkins, who owns a 29-6 record. Jackson comes into his fight with a 25-8 record, while Rankin has a 27-3 mark. Under second-year head coach LeRoy Gardner, the wrestling program has quickly developed into a contender in just its fourth year of existence.
