Women’s Soccer Team Nets A 1-1 Tie Against McMurry

Clarksville, Ark.-The women's soccer team had its bid for a win end up in a 1-1 overtime tie after leading 1-0 in the second half against McMurry University Saturday.

Ozarks (0-5-2) took a 1-0 advantage on a Hannah Carter goal in the 57th minute only to have McMurry (1-3-1) even the score in the 69th minute. Ozarks controlled the match early creating several scoring opportunities. Ozarks had a dangerous combination up top with Frances Adams and Brittanie Gragg to produce an offensive surge. Adams had a shot go wide in the 6th minute and later sped around a defender to get off another shot in the 38th minute that McMurry goalkeeper Simone Heinle had to make a play on. Sarah Lane, Falon Hanson, Tiffany Robinson also got in on the offensive attack to help Ozarks total six shots in the first 45 minutes of play.

Ozarks put on an impressive performance in the second half, too, as it powered 11 more shots. Leading 1-0, Ozarks allowed a McMurry goal, and in a bizarre twist, the War Hawks goal scorer and Ozarks' goalkeeper were each given a red card. With both teams playing a man down, Carter and Lane almost put Ozarks in front in the 81st minute. On a free kick, Carter sliced a ball through the defense to a sprinting Lane, who got a foot on it the box despite a tough angle, but Heinle stopped the shot. Each team would have one shot in the first and second overtime. With just 1:20 left, Gragg nearly ended it, but a header went wide.

Ozarks ended with a 19-9 shots advantage.
