THE BASICS
After a tight first half, the Eagles dominated possession in the second half and eventually broke through the Mississippi University for Women defense for a goal in the 70thminute to upend the Owls 1-0 in Friday's regular season opener. Jayden Glover took a pass from Hannah Smith and fired one past the goalkeeper for the game-winner. Glover, a transfer, scored a beautiful goal that clearly gave the Eagles momentum of the match. From there, freshman goalkeeper Sydney Frazier and the defense kept the Owls from tying the match. The Eagles posted six second half shots and held the Owls to a pair of shots. In all, the Eagles outshot the Owls 13-8. Five different players had two shots apiece for the Eagles. Frazier netted the shutout in goal.
