THE BASICS
East Texas Baptist held onto 2-0 lead late in the match to secure a 2-1 win over the Eagles Friday in American Southwest Conference play. The Tigers scored in the ninth minute to take an early 1-0 advantage behind a strong first half that produced eight shots. The Eagles had trouble generating any shots in the first half, but they fought back like they have all season and did trim the deficit to 2-1 in the 81stminute on a penalty kick from Jessica Alvarado. From there, the Tigers were able to keep the Eagles off the board for the win. The Eagles had three shots in the match, all coming in the second half. The team's five seniors – Breanna Aguilar, Terri Brown, Makayla Davis, Rebecca Peterson and Christina Waddle - were honored prior the match.
