Women’s Swim Team Receives National Academic Honor

The women's swim and dive program was honored with the CSCAA team academic award.

Clarksville, Ark. - The University of the Ozarks women's swimming program was among the teams to receive Scholar All-America recognition from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

The Eagles posted a team grade point average of 3.41 under head coach David DeGeus. To receive the honor, teams must achieve a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. In total, the CSCAA selected a record 713 teams from 460 institutions to the Scholar All-America Team for the Fall 2018 semester. The teams were selected by the CSCAA's Scholar All-America committee on the basis of their Fall grade point averages and represent 16,502 student-athletes.

"The University of the Ozarks stays true to the NCAA Division III model that our students are students first and athletes second," said DeGeus.  "My swimmers learn discipline, hard work and time management skills through their training regimen and apply that to the classroom and will in life after college. I am honored that my team has put in the hard work and achieved academic success. It takes every person on the team to make this happen."

It is the second time the women's program has received the honor.

The Eagles will host the Central Baptist College Dual February 1 and the Henderson State Senior Meet February 2.
