Swim Teams Compete In Day One Of SCAC Championships

The Eagles competed in day one of the SCAC swim championships.

San Antonio, Texas – The women's and men's swim teams completed day one of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships by competing in the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay Wednesday in San Antonio. 

After day one, the men's team sits in fifth place, while the women are in seventh place. The Eagles continue action at the SCAC Championships tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.

In the women's 200 medley relay, the Eagles swam a 2:03.56 for sixth place. The team consisted of Rosie Wade, Skylar Frazier, Catherine Wellborn and Shalley Coffin. In the 800 free style relay, the Eagles placed sixth after posting a time of 8:45.50. The team consisted of Wellborn, Frazier, Coffin and Wade.

In the men's "A" final, the Eagles placed fifth after posting a time of 1:39.95 in the 200 medley relay. The team was made up of Jacob Jones, Michael Walkine, Josh Collins and Nicolai Van Zyl. In the "B" final, the team of Bailey Butler, Nicolas Dunsworth, Gustavo Almaraz and Nicolas White swam a 1:51.66 for fourteenth place. In the 800 free style relay, the Eagles placed fifth in the "A" final behind Van Zyl, White, Collins and Jones. The group swam a 7:31.93. In the "B" final, Alamaraz, Walkine, Michael Vargas and Dunsworth posted a time of 8:23.30 for fourteenth place.
