Baseball Team Grabs Pair Of Wins

The Eagles (6-14, 3-8) had a 7-4 victory over Central Baptist on March 13 and a 5-3 win over conference opponent Louisiana College on March 15. The Eagles had a fine pitching performance from freshman John Burgess in the 7-4 over CBC. Burgess pitched five innings striking out five. Cody Gebhart smacked a 3 run home run to lead Ozarks to the victory. The Eagles dropped the second game 11-3. The Eagles traveled to Pineville, Louisiana last weekend and won one of three contests against the Wildcats. In the 5-3 win, the Eagles broke a 3-3 tie by scoring two runs in the ninth inning. A Chance Lawless double drove in the eventual game winning runs. Lawless went 2-for-3 and had two RBI in the game. James Seymour picked up the win. Seymour pitched 8 innings and struck out four. In Saturday's first game of a double-header, the Eagles rallied again in the ninth inning scoring 6 runs, but fell short 11-13 in the end. Shawn Adams, Clint Phifer and Seymour each recorded two hits apiece. Gebhart had a team high 3 RBI. The Eagles were defeated 7-6 in the second game. Seymour and Phifer had two hits each. Seymour cranked his first home run of the season. Chase Pearrow pitched seven innings and struck out three. The Eagles will play Harding University on March 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the Clarksville City Park and then will face Mississippi College on March 22 and 23 in Clarksville.
