Baseball Team Drops Sul Ross State Game

The Eagles (4-5, 0-0) got two runs in the second and third innings, but could only muster one more run the entire game. In the second, Anthony Brandon and Robby Finnell each crossed the plate. Brian Heckmann led off the third inning with a double to left field and later advanced to third on a wild pitch. Brett Hays followed with a walk and stole second. Anthony Brandon then singled to center field to score both runners. Kyle Hudson would knock in the Eagles' final run on a single to right field in the sixth inning. Hudson's single would give Ozarks a 5-4 advantage, but that wouldn't last long as Sul Ross (1-8) scored two runs in the seventh. The Eagles struggled at the plate in the final three innings and finished with only five hits in the contest. Heckmann went 2-for-4 and Brandon knocked in 2 RBI. Bill Martin (0-1) received the loss after pitching one inning and giving up two runs in relief. Chase Hale pitched four and one-third innings and struck out 6 in his third start of the season. The two teams square Saturday in a double-header beginning at 12:00 p.m.
