Eagles Take Out Frustrations With 14-4 Win

Ozarks improves to 9-12 overall and 2-4 in American Southwest Conference play. ETBU drops to 15-6-1 and 3-3. Ozarks' offense went through five ETBU pitchers, and all nine Ozarks' starters had a hit, with freshman outfielder David Smith finishing the day 5-for-5 and 3 RBI. The Tigers would get only one run through eight innings when TJ Ladd doubled in Jordan Byrd in the top of the first. The Tigers had two hits in the inning, but Hudson would shutdown the visitors from that point, allowing only four hits over the next seven and one-third innings. Hudson finished with seven strikeouts and improved his record to a team-best 4-1. The Eagles didn't score until the second inning after Smith and Caleb Hilton each knocked in runs. The floodgates opened in the third as Ozarks scored eight runs to take a 10-1 advantage after three. The Eagles had nine hits in the bottom half of the inning, with Brian Heckmann and Brett Hays highlighting the third with two RBI apiece. Seven of the nine hits were singles. While Hudson continued his strong performance on the mound, Ozarks added one in the fourth and three in the fifth to make the score 14-1 after seven. Tim Renshaw highlighted the fifth inning with a single to leftfield that scored Robby Finnell and Hays. Darr and Justin Brown went 3-for-5. Darr scored three runs. The Tigers did not have an answer for Hudson as he did not allow a walk in 36 batters faced. Ozarks will host Lyon College on March 22 at 2:00 p.m.
