UT-Tyler Baseball Team Remains Unbeaten

<#IMAGE:1#>The Patriots (24-0, 7-0), however, did have to come-from-behind to keep their record perfect. Trailing 7-5 after six innings of play, the Patriots exploded for six runs on just two hits in the top of the seventh to take a 11-7 advantage. The Eagles (14-13, 3-4) did answer with one run in the bottom half of the inning, but UT-Tyler had already done the damage and forced Ozarks into a comeback mode. UT-Tyler held a 5-0 lead after five and one-half innings, but the Eagles put three on the board in the bottom of the fifth behind a David Smith two-run double and an Andrew Teaster RBI single. In the bottom of the sixth, Ozarks scored four runs on two hits and took advantage of a costly UT-Tyler error to end the frame with a 7-5 lead. Todd Koch reached base on a one-out double. Cory Briggs and Scott Dietz recorded back-to-back walks to load the bases. David Isom then delivered a single to score Koch. Smith followed with a walk to score another and John Glenn then reached on an error at second base, helping Ozarks to two more runs. UT-Tyler, however, held Ozarks to one hit over the next three innings to fight off a comeback. Eight different players had one hit for Ozarks in the contest, with Smith notching a team-high 3 RBI. Ozarks' hurler Curt Dixon started the game and went six and one-third innings, but was relieved by John Scheuring. Dixon struck out five. Scheuring (1-1) received the loss. The Eagles will host the Patriots tommorrow in a double-header beginning at 12:00 p.m.
