The Eagles (8-1, 0-0) had a big first inning, scoring four runs on two hits. Robert Mummey's two-run homer was the highlight of the inning and gave Ozarks a 4-0 lead. Brad Broussard hit a solo shot in the third to give Ozarks a 6-2 advantage. Starter DJ Braswell struck out two batters in the first, second and third innings to keep the Warriors (5-10) from a rally. After Hendrix scored three in the top of the fourth to cut it to 6-5, the Eagles had their way in the bottom half of the inning with six different players receiving hits. Cory Briggs and Robby Finnell led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Both Briggs and Finnell eventually scored, with Mummey recording an RBI. With two outs and Mummey on first, Scott Dietz and Logan Kizer drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. John Glenn had a two-run single, and Bruce Cameron did the same to push the Eagles lead to 12-5. In his second at bat of the inning, Briggs ripped a double to left center to score Cameron. No other runs by either team would be scored following the fifth.

It is the best start in school history for Ozarks, bettering the 7-1 record the 2005 team had to begin the year.

DJ Braswell (1-0) received the win after going five innings and striking out a career-high 10. Jeremy Hogan finished the game by pitching four scoreless innings to receive his first save of the season. 

Mummey finished 2-for-3 with 3 RBI and 3 runs. Briggs went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI, and Glenn, Cameron, Broussard, Finnell and Kizer each had two hits. 

Ozarks will host Mary-Hardin Baylor in a three-game weekend set beginning Friday at 2:00 p.m.
