Briggs, Cameron Share ASC Preseason Player of the Year Honors

Briggs, a junior shortstop from Greencastle, Pa., hit .467 last season to win the ASC batting title and also produced eight home runs, 19 doubles and 54 RBIs. Cameron, a senior outfielder who also pitches, batted .410 with 14 homers, 12 doubles and 49 RBIs. The Houston, Texas, product also posted an .827 slugging percentage. He went 5-1 on the mound. 

Briggs was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-America Second Team and Cameron earned a spot on the by the D3baseball.com All-America Second Team in 2008. Both were named to the ASC All-East Division First Team in 2008.

Ozarks was predicted to finish third in the ASC East Division, according to the conference's preseason poll released Tuesday. The Eagles finished 32-11 last year and went to the playoffs for the second straight season. Ozarks begins the season February 3 against Hendrix College.
