The first inning saw fireworks as the two teams combined for seven runs off six hits. McMurry (3-3) opened the game with four runs in the top half of the first, but Ozarks (3-4) answered with three runs, highlighted by a two-run single by Todd Koch. Ozarks starter DJ Braswell settled in and gave up just two hits after the first inning before McMurry took the lead back with Brown's homer. Ozarks took the lead 6-4 in the fourth on a single and a walk. Freddy Flores led off the fourth with a double and then Logan Kizer and Chris Driedric drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. David Smith delivered a single through the left side to score two, and Ozarks got another run when Jeremy Hogan drew a bases loaded walk. Smith led off the sixth with a solo home run to get Ozarks within 8-7. However, McMurry added another run in the top of the ninth on a solo shot of their own.

Braswell (1-2) went four and two-third innings to take the loss. He fanned five.
