Eagles Rally Past HPU In Extra Innings

In game one, the right-handed Osburn (1-2) went the distance for the first time this season and struck out four. He did not issue a walk in his seven innings of work. The Eagles (4-9, 0-0 ASC) held a 1-0 after one inning of play thanks to a Howard Payne (7-4, 0-0) error. Andrew Pelkey doubled to open the third inning, and Chris Driedric followed with a two-bagger to score the first run of the frame. Briggs then hit a monster shot to left field to bring in Driedric and Tad Turner. The Yellow Jackets got one run back in the bottom of the third, but Osburn allowed just hits three hits following their score.

In the sixth, Turner ripped a two-run single to give the Eagles a 7-1 cushion.

Driedric went 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Briggs finished 1-for-3 with 3 RBI. Turner was 2-for-2.

In game two, Ozarks broke a 5-5 tie with a two-out rally in the top of the tenth when Logan Parsons, Pelkey and Driedric recorded back-to-back-to-back singles. Driedric's hit drove in Parsons to give the Eagles a 6-5 advantage. Ozarks would later score on a Howard Payne error. 

Ozarks took a 3-0 lead in the third behind a Jeremy Hogan RBI double and a Scott Dietz two-run home run. Starter Jonathan Cox kept the Yellow Jackets off the board until the fourth. Howard Payne eventually tied the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh. Driedric responded with a two-run double in the eighth to put Ozarks ahead 5-3. Howard Payne came back in the bottom half of the inning to score a pair of runs. 

Brett Wood (2-0) received the win after tossing two and two-third innings. Bill Smith faced one batter in the tenth to pick up the save. Cox went seven innings and fanned seven.

Driedric finished 2-for-6 with 3 RBI.

Ozarks will finish their three-game series tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
