Osburn Fans 10; Salahub Throws Shutout

Salahub (2-1) issued just one walk over nine-innings and struck out nine. Ozarks' starter Bobby Osburn was the tough-luck pitcher who received the loss. Osburn (0-2) fanned 10 in 7.0 innings of work. Osburn gave up a run in the fifth inning when Ozarks (0-4) committed one of its four errors. Ozarks collected just three hits for Osburn, who mowed down seven through the first four innings. Ozarks trailed 2-0 after seven and then committed two errors in the eighth to hand Lyon (3-3) an additional two runs. The Eagles couldn't get much going against the 6-foot-7 Salahub, but did put a runner in scoring position in the first, third and ninth inning. Ozarks produced its biggest threat in the ninth when Mitchell Powers led off the inning by getting hit by a pitch. Cory Briggs then drew a walk, but Salahub forced back-to-back fly outs. His final out came on a screaming line drive right at him in which he snagged to keep his shutout.

Logan Parsons saw an inning of action and struck out two. Bill Smith also tossed an inning.

Chris Driedric, Scott Dietz and Drew Clark had one hit apiece for Ozarks.

The Eagles will host Simpson College in a three-game weekend series Saturday and Sunday.
