Eagles Split Double-Header With Concordia

In game two, the Eagles (3-13) got the game-winning run in the eighth on an infield error. Ozarks appeared to be in control of the contest after scoring four runs in the second inning to go ahead 4-1. Ozarks pounded out six hits in the frame and got RBI from Drew Clark, Jake West and Kurt Shemanske. Concordia (8-6) battled back to climb within 4-3 in the sixth and eventually evened the score in the seventh. Bo Thomas (1-3) was inserted in the seventh and received the win after tossing one inning. Travis Conner followed with an inning in relief and Freddy Prince picked up his first save of the season by throwing a scoreless ninth inning.

Prince and Tony Morales each went 2-for-4. Clark was 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI.

West's RBI triple followed by Shemanske's sacrifice RBI gave Ozarks a 2-1 lead in the fifth, but it wouldn't be enough as Concordia staged a comeback in the sixth to take a 6-2 win in game one of Saturday's double-header.

Ozarks trailed 1-0 after the second and each team went scoreless the next two frames. The Eagles mounted a two-run rally in the fifth. Zac Mitchell recorded an infield single and Hunter Guffey advanced Mitchell to second with a sacrifice bunt. West then got Ozarks on the board with an RBI triple to right center field. Shemanske brought in West with a sacrifice fly to right field. However, Concordia rallied in the sixth by scoring five runs on three hits.

Four Ozarks' players had one hit apiece.

Tyler Erickson tossed five innings as the starter. Bobby Osburn (0-2) took the loss.

Ozarks will host Clarke College March 8 starting at 1:00 pm.
