Late Homer Gives Central Baptist Sweep

In game one, Central Baptist College (20-17) pounded out 14 hits and starter Caleb Schallawitz threw a five-hit shutout to give the Mustangs a 14-0 win.

Central Baptist powered a two-run home run in the first inning and scored another to take an early 3-0 lead. Trailing 6-0, Ozarks (6-30) loaded the bases with no outs only to have Schallawitz work his way of the jam in the third. Second baseman Nick Brill ended a threat in the fourth with a leaping catch to end the top half of the frame. Ozarks loaded the bases for the second straight time only to strand all three in the fifth.

Ozarks left eight men on base.

Tony Morales and Jacob Robbins each went 2-for-3.

Bobby Osburn (0-8) took the loss.

In game two, Ozarks held a 2-0 advantage after the second and then exploded for nine runs in the third to hold a comfortable 11-0 advantage. Jake West highlighted the third inning with a three-run homer. Freddy Prince, Chris Driedric, Ian Bryan and Nick Brill also had RBI in the frame. But the third inning would be the last time Ozarks would score. The Mustangs fought back to within 11-8 behind a five-run sixth. Sheffer then hit a two-run home run in the seventh to put the Mustangs up for good. Wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour helped both teams combine for six home runs.
West drove in four runs. Ozarks ended the game with 14 hits.

Bo Thomas (1-4) took the loss in relief.

Ozarks will play Austin College in McAlester, Oklahoma, on Monday.
