Shook’s Homer Sparks Eagles

Ozarks (3-1) led most of the game, but Central Baptist (0-1) took a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh on a home run, single and a double. The lead didn't last long though as Dean Igert drew a walk to open the bottom of the seventh. The left-handed Shook then followed with a homer to right field giving Ozarks a lead it wouldn't relinquish.

Ozarks took a 3-0 lead in the second inning when Peyton Johnigan singled in a run and Shook recorded a two-run double. But Central Baptist did put runners on base in each of the first three innings. However, Prince induced a double play in the both the first and second innings to end the threat. After Central Baptist had scored once in the fourth, Prince got help from shortstop Mitchell Powers. With a runner on board, Central Baptist's Derek Houser hit one deep in the hole at short where Powers fielded it cleanly and made a long throw to end a potential scoring rally.

In the seventh, Ozarks totaled five hits and Tony Morales, Drew Clark, Johnigan and Max Townley each drove in a run.

Prince was charged with one earned run and five hits. He struck out two. Rodger Montano (1-0) received the win after tossing two-thirds of an inning.

Shook finished 3-for-5 with 4 RBI. Clark ended the game going 3-for-4 with two runs.
