Eagles Find A Way To Complete Comeback

Eagles Find A Way To Complete Comeback

Trailing 6-5 heading into the ninth, Ozarks (6-2) mounted a rally to earn its fourth win in its last five games. Nick Brill swung the momentum in Ozarks' favor after leading off the bottom of the ninth with an infield single. Tony Morales followed with a single to right field and John Singler then recorded a sacrifice bunt to move Brill and pinch runner Dean Igert to third and second, respectively. With one out, Hendrix (3-3) decided to load the bases by intentionally walking Brandon Brewer. Peyton Johnigan then hit a ball that appeared to be a double play opportunity, but Hendrix was unable to field it cleanly, allowing both Brill and the Igert to score. The throw home to get the speedy Igert hit the dirt and was then bobbled by the catcher.

Sam Shook hit a solo home run in the first inning to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead, but Hendrix evened the score in the third. The Eagles scored three times in the fifth behind a Singler sacrifice RBI and a Brewer two-run homer. It was Brewer's first collegiate home run.

Hendrix responded with three runs in the top of the sixth and one more run in the seventh to hold a 6-4 lead. Ozarks got one run back in the eighth when Shook recorded a sacrifice RBI.

Ian Bryan (1-0) pitched in the ninth to receive the win. Freddy Prince started and went four innings.

Brill went 3-for-5 and Morales went 2-for-4.

The Eagles will host Sul Ross State University Saturday and Simpson College Sunday in the Ozarks Classic this weekend.
