Hendrix College Hangs On For 14-11 Win

Clarksville, Ark.-Hendrix College overcame a school record ten errors and still hung on for a wild 14-11 victory over the Eagles Tuesday afternoon.

Ozarks (2-2) had a 2-1 lead after three complete innings, but allowed seven runs in the top of the fourth to give Hendrix (1-4) all the momentum.  Despite its poor play in the field, Hendrix held a 9-5 advantage after five. Hendrix made up for its defensive struggles with a solid performance at the plate. Hendrix pounded out 18 hits and six players had multiple hits, including highly regarded major league baseball prospect Collin Radack.

Ozarks most productive inning came in the eighth when it scored four runs, the first of which was a result of John Singler's RBI. Quinton Ray walked in a run and Andrew Beck and Peyton Johnigan each received RBI to trim the deficit to 13-9. The Eagles made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth, loading the bases with one out. Singler walked in a run and Andres Acosta had a sacrifice fly to score another, however, the Warriors were able to get the final out to end the threat.

Dean Igert and Tony Morales each had two hits. Singler had a team-best 3 RBI.

Nathan Cedor (0-1) took the loss as the starter throwing three and two-third innings.

Ozarks opens conference play this weekend in Austin, Texas, against Concordia University Texas.
