Texas-Tyler One Hits Eagles

Tyler, Texas-UT-Tyler pitcher Jake Beam threw a one-hitter against the Eagles Friday afternoon to earn a 6-0 shutout in game one of their American Southwest Conference series.

Beam kept the Eagles (3-9, 1-7 ASC) hitless until the fifth inning when John Singler roped a single to center field. Beam issued just one walk and struck out five in the seven-inning affair. UT-Tyler (6-8, 4-4 ASC) scored once in the first, three in the fourth and two in the sixth. Grady Finley (2-2) received the loss for Ozarks.
    
UT-Tyler then edged Ozarks 3-0 in game two to earn a Friday sweep. UT-Tyler broke up a shutout by Alex Rodriguez in the fourth by scoring two runs. Ozarks threatened in the fifth with two runners in scoring position, but UT-Tyler pitcher Michael Blevins forced a groundout. Blevins fanned nine.

Alex Rodriguez (0-1) took the loss after tossing six innings. Ozarks' offense generated four hits in the game.

Ozarks will face Texas-Tyler at noon tomorrow in the final game of the series.
