Baseball Team Completes Weekend Sweep With Two-Out Rally

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles made an impressive late-inning rally for the second straight day to complete a three-game weekend sweep against Sul Ross State University in American Southwest Conference play.

Ozarks (6-10, 4-8 ASC) scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth, all with two outs, to earn a 8-4 come-from-behind win. A day earlier, the Eagles scored three runs in the final inning to pick up a 4-3 win. In Saturday's contest, the Eagles trailed 4-3 until the sixth when Taylor Parker took advantage of a Lobo (9-10, 5-7 ASC) throwing error to score all the way from first base. Ozarks then mounted a two-out rally in the bottom of the eighth to secure the victory. Following two straight fly outs, Ozarks recorded three consecutive singles to put pressure on Sul Ross starter Justin Vajgert. Vajgert then beaned back-to-back batters to give Ozarks a 6-4 lead. Tony Morales ripped a two-run single to all but put the game away. Relief pitcher Freddy Prince (1-0) did his job retiring two straight batters in the top of the ninth. After giving up a single, Prince forced a flyout to end the game. Prince received the win after tossing three innings.

John Singler went 2-for-5 and Peyton Johnigan went 2-for-4. Morales and Andrew Beck each drove in a pair of runs.

Ozarks will travel to Hendrix College March 18.
