Dramatic Homer Lifts Mary Hardin-Baylor To Friday Sweep

Belton, Texas-Mary Hardin-Baylor used a dramatic two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings and then delivered a sacrifice fly to score the game-winning run in the tenth for a 13-12 win in game two against the Eagles in American Southwest Conference play.
    
In game one Friday, Mary Hardin-Baylor (15-3, 12-2 ASC) broke open a close game with a five-run fifth to upend the Eagles 10-3.
    
In game two, Ozarks (7-11, 4-9 ASC) mounted a comeback as it scored four runs in the seventh to take a 10-9 lead. The Crusaders tied the score in the bottom of the seventh, but the Eagles generated two runs in the ninth to move in front 12-10. However, with one out, Chase Burrow hit his second home run of the game to force extra innings. From there, the Crusaders pushed across the game-winning run to complete the come-from-behind win on a sacrifice fly.
    
Andrew Beck went 3-for-6 with four RBI. John Singler also went 3-for-6. Freddy Prince (1-1) took the loss in relief.

In game one, Ozarks went ahead 1-0 in the second behind a Taylor Parker RBI single. Ozarks plated another run when Tony Morales drove in Freddy Prince with a single through the infield. However, Mary Hardin-Baylor posted four runs in the bottom of the third to move in front 4-2. The Eagles got a run back in the fifth on another RBI from Morales, making the score 5-3. In the bottom half on the fifth, the Crusaders took control of the game with five runs on three hits.
    
Morales and Sam Shook each had two hits. Tyler Erickson (0-3) took the loss after throwing four innings as the starter. 
   
Ozarks will finish the series with a single game tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
