Eagles Score 21 Runs In Saturday Split

Marshall, Texas-The Eagles scored a combined 21 runs to earn a split against East Texas Baptist University Saturday in American Southwest Conference action.

In game one, Ozarks (14-23, 10-20 ASC) broke a 1-1 tie with a five-run sixth inning to pick up a 6-4 win. Taylor Parker hit a bases clearing triple to ignite the rally in the sixth. Freddy Prince and Tony Morales also had RBI singles in the frame. East Texas Baptist (15-22, 12-18 ASC) answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, but it wouldn't be enough. Tyler Erickson (2-5) received the win after tossing five and one-third innings as the starter. Prince ended the game going 2-for-3.

In game two, Ozarks pounded out 21 hits in the game to fuel a rally after trailing 11-3 after four innings. However, the Tigers escaped with a 18-15 victory. In the fifth, Ozarks began to chip away using the home run ball. Andres Acosta cranked out a two-run homer and Peyton Johnigan hit a solo home run. Johnigan would hit his second homer in the seventh. Andrew Beck tripled in two runs and John Singler had an RBI single in the fifth to climb within 11-9. However, the Tigers answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Eagles added two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to make it 16-13. Prince homered in the eighth and Singler had an RBI double to bring the Eagles within 16-15. But the Tigers again responded with two runs in the eighth to secure the game.

Sam Shook went 4-for-5 with two RBI. Johnigan went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Prince went 3-for-6 with four runs scored. Singler was 3-for-5. Nathan Cedor (2-2) received the loss.

Ozarks will host LeTourneau University May 2-3 in a three-game series to finish out the regular season. Senior Day will be held prior to the game Saturday.
