LeTourneau Dashes Ozarks Hopes; Edge Eagles In Game Three

Clarksville, Ark.-LeTourneau University came out with a pair of big wins Saturday thanks to clutch hitting late in each game.

Ozarks finishes the season with a 14-26 overall record and a 10-23 mark in American Southwest Conference play.

In game one, LeTourneau (28-12, 22-11 ASC) had a big seventh inning to break open a 3-3 tie for a 7-3 victory and then scored the game-winning run in the tenth to break a 6-6 tie and grab a 7-6 win in game two.

In game one, Ozarks trailed all the way up until the sixth. But Sam Shook hit a solo home run to start the bottom of sixth. With one out, the Eagles picked up back-to-back singles. Andres Acosta then reached base on an infield error and Ozarks scored one. Peyton Johnigan followed up with a bunt single to score another run and tie the game 3-3. In the top of seventh, LeTourneau would load the bases with one out. Ozarks inserted freshman pitcher Andrew Beck and the right-hander quickly went ahead 0-2 against Kyle Jacobs. After a ball, Jacobs lined a shot up the middle that Beck got a glove on, and second baseman Taylor Parker was there to catch it and double up Dillon Yates at second base to end the threat. However, LeTourneau stormed back to score four runs in the top of the eighth to take a commanding 7-3 lead. LeTourneau closer Kirby Cantalamessa was impressive throwing two and two-third innings to earn the win.

Tony Morales went 2-for-4. Beck (0-4) took the loss in relief.

In game two, LeTourneau had six runs on seven hits through six innings and led 6-1. Ozarks did open the game with one run in the first frame behind Beck's RBI single. The Eagles mounted a rally in the bottom half of the sixth scoring five runs to tie the score 6-6. Ozarks had six singles in the inning and took advantage of one LeTourneau error. Johnigan and Dean Igert had one RBI in the frame and Freddy Prince drove in two. Ozarks would plate its fifth run on an error by the LeTourneau first baseman.

LeTourneau would eventually plate the game-winning run in the tenth when Ryan Bertram hit one up the middle that bounced off pitcher Freddy Prince's glove into centerfield.

Beck finished 3-for-4. Prince (1-4) took the loss in relief.
