Baseball All-Conference Honors Announced

Clarksville, Ark.-Three University of the Ozarks baseball players received All-Conference honors from the American Southwest Conference, it was announced Monday.

Senior outfielder Freddy Prince was named to the All-Conference Third Team.  Senior third baseman Tony Morales earned All-Conference Honorable Mention Team. Freshman Andrew Beck was named All-Conference Honorable Mention as a short stop and pitcher.

Prince, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound native of Jonesboro, Ark., finished fifth in the conference in hits (53) and fourth in runs (38). He led the team for the second straight season in batting (.342) and was also the team-leader in doubles (10), total bases (69), hits and runs. Prince recorded two home runs, drove in 18 runs and posted a .445 slugging percentage. He had 17 multiple-hit games and hit safely in 31 games. Against Howard Payne March 1, he went 4-for-4, and against East Texas Baptist April 26, he went 3-for-6 with four runs and a homer. He finishes his career with the ninth-highest career batting average (.353) at Ozarks. He also ranks sixth in program history in hits (176), third in doubles (36) and eighth in total bases (231). He ends his career as a two-time All-Conference performer.

Morales, a 6-foot-1, 225-pound native of Fayetteville, Ark., finished sixth in the conference with 32 RBI. Morales ranked third on the team in hits (43) and doubles (8). He hit .279 with a homer and 54 total bases. Morales opened the 2014 season in grand fashion going 4-for-4 with a home run and five RBI against Augsburg College. He ended the season with ten multiple-hit games. He drove in two runs six different times. Morales finishes his career ranked second at Ozarks in most games started (152) and at-bats (553). He is sixth all-time in hits with 172 and seventh all-time in doubles with 29.
    
Beck, a 6-foot, 180-pound native of Conway, Ark., finished second on the team in batting (.308), RBI (31), total bases (58), doubles (9) and runs (24). He posted 12 multiple-hit games and seven multiple-RBI games. He had a triple and four RBI against Hendrix College April 9. He went 3-for-6 with four RBI against Mary Hardin-Baylor March 21. On the mound, he finished fifth in the conference with three saves. He tossed 23.0 innings and posted a 5.48 ERA.
