Nathan Bacon Named Assistant Baseball Coach

Clarksville, Ark.-Nathan Bacon was named the new assistant baseball coach at the University of the Ozarks, it was announced Friday by U of O athletics director and head baseball coach Jimmy Clark.
    
Bacon, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, was a standout pitcher at NAIA Avila University from 2010-2012, where he led the Eagles to a pair of conference championships. Bacon finished his career with a 20-6 record on the mound and earned All-Conference honors twice. He played at NAIA Central Christian College in 2009 and earned the team's Pitcher of the Year award. He played at NCAA II Harding University during the 2007 and 2008 season.  
    
"We are excited to have Coach Bacon join our program," said Clark. "He is a younger guy that will bring enthusiasm and energy to our program. He comes from a winning background. He seems to be one of those guys that has a knack for winning. He came very highly recommended." 
    
Bacon will work with all aspects of the baseball program.
    
"He will bring a different perspective to our program," said Clark. "Having pitched and played a position in college, I think he will be able to recruit a variety of players."

Bacon was a pitching coach at Summit Christian Academy in Lee's Summit, Mo., during the 2013 season. He was the pitching coach for the Diamond Kings Under 18 team in 2013 and has given pitching and hitting lessons at Searcy Sports Advantage.    
    
Bacon played at Summit Christian Academy, leading the team to a pair of state championships, while earning All-State honors three times.
    
Bacon received his bachelor's degree in history from Avila University in 2012. He and his wife, Jackie, were married in 2013.
