Baseball Team Earns Split On Opening Weekend

Memphis, Tenn.-The Eagles took a 6-5 game two victory behind a three-run seventh inning to earn a split Saturday against Rhodes College on opening weekend for Ozarks.
    
Ozarks (1-1) dropped game one 9-5. In game two, the Eagles trailed 4-3 heading into the final frame, but rallied to score three runs on just one hit. Ozarks took advantage of a bases loaded walk and a bases loaded hit by a pitch to push across the decisive runs. Zach Walker and Sam Shook each collected those RBI in the frame. John Singler would notch the other RBI with a single to score Alex Smith. With the scored tied 2-2 after three complete innings, Shook drove in a run on a single to center field. Alex Rodriguez then sealed the game with a save after tossing the final inning. Keaton Ramsey (1-0) received the win. Ramsey threw 3.2 innings and struck out two.
    
Ozarks pounded out nine hits, with Taylor Parker finishing 2-for-3 with two runs. Andrew Beck and Singler each went 2-for-4. Shook ended the game with two RBI.
    
In game one, Rhodes (1-1) held a 7-1 lead after four innings before the Eagles cut the deficit to 7-5 late. The Eagles put three runs on the board in the seventh on three hits. Beck and Singler each tallied RBI in the inning. However, Rhodes came back in the eighth to score two runs.  
    
Both teams had 11 hits. Beck went 3-for-5 and Aaron Perry had two hits. Singler drove in two runs.
    
Nathan Cedor (0-1) took the loss as the starter.

Ozarks will finish its three-game series tomorrow with a single game starting at 12:00 p.m.
