Clarksville, Arkansas- The Texas-Tyler offense homered six times and scored 31 runs in a double-header sweep over the Eagles Saturday in American Southwest Conference baseball action.
Texas-Tyler (9-5, 6-2 ASC) won game one 7-2 and then took game two 24-6. In game one, the Patriots broke open a tight game, scoring four runs behind RBI on a homer, double, triple and a single in the sixth inning to secure the contest. Ozarks (4-9, 1-5 ASC) led 2-1 after three innings as the Eagles scored on an error and a sacrifice RBI from Dean Igert. Texas-Tyler answered with a run in the fourth, and then held Ozarks hitless until the bottom of the seventh. The Eagles totaled three hits in the game and used six pitchers. Alex Rodriguez (2-2) took the loss in relief.
In game two, Texas-Tyler battered six Ozarks' pitchers for 24 hits, including five homers, three triples and seven doubles in a lopsided win. The Patriots built a 15-0 lead in two and one-half innings to cruise the rest of the game. John Singler paced Ozarks at the plate with a 3-for-3, 2-RBI performance. Nathan Cedor (0-2) took the loss as the starter.
Ozarks will finish its series against Texas-Tyler tomorrow in a single nine-inning game starting at noon.
