Baseball Team Rebounds To Take Game Three

Alpine, Texas-Senior right-hander John Singler threw a complete game in a 8-5 game three win to salvage the Eagles' series against Sul Ross State University over the weekend in American Southwest Conference play.
    
In game one Saturday, Sul Ross State (7-13, 3-6 ASC) broke a 2-2 tie with a seven-run third inning to take a 11-2 win before the Eagles (5-12, 2-8 ASC) rebounded to earn a game three victory.
    
Singler improved his record to 1-1 with the win. Singler did not issue a walk and struck out two while getting an offensive lift from Taylor Parker, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI. Ozarks recorded 14 hits in the game.
    
Ozarks plated two runs in the first inning behind RBI doubles from Andres Acosta and Alex Smith. Sul Ross responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame, but the Eagles answered in the third with three runs. Acosta drove in another run and Parker later followed with a two-run double off the left field wall. Leading 5-3, Sam Shook and Parker each blasted home runs in the fifth to provide Ozarks with a 8-3 advantage. Singler later worked a scoreless eighth inning and then induced a double play in the bottom of the ninth to end the game.
    
In game one, Ozarks scored twice in the second inning to even the contest behind four hits. Zach Walker received an RBI when he doubled in Shook. However, Sul Ross took control of the contest by plating seven runs on five hits in the next frame. Walker went 2-for-3 for the Eagles.
    
Andrew Beck (0-2) received the loss after tossing two and two-third innings as the starter.
    
Ozarks will host Mary Hardin-Baylor March 20-21 in a conference three-game series.
