Mary Hardin-Baylor Takes Baseball Double-Header

Clarksville, Ark.-University of Mary Hardin-Baylor earned a pair of wins over the Eagles to take a sweep Friday in American Southwest Conference play.

In game one, Mary Hardin-Baylor (9-7, 7-4 ASC) scored a pair of key runs in the second inning and then added three more in the seventh to take a 6-2 win. In game two, the Crusaders pounded out 18 hits, while starting pitcher Aaron Barteau worked a one-hitter through seven innings, to pick up a 12-4 victory.  
         
Mary Hardin-Baylor held a 3-0 lead until the fifth when Ozarks (5-14, 2-10 ASC) scored a run. Andrew Beck drove in Jordan Jones from second base on a single to left field. The Crusaders answered with three insurance runs in the top of the seventh. Ozarks did score once in the bottom of the seventh, but that would be all the Eagles could generate.

Ozarks' starter Oscar Dominguez (1-3) took the loss. Dominguez fanned nine and walked only one.
    
In game two, Mary Hardin-Baylor jumped out to a 6-0 advantage after three innings. Ozarks made it 8-1 in the fifth when Alex Smith recorded an RBI. Ozarks used five pitchers in the contest. Will Tucker (0-1) received the loss as the starter. Ozarks only had five hits, three of which came in the ninth inning.
    
Ozarks will finish its series against Mary Hardin-Baylor tomorrow in a nine-inning contest starting at 1:00 p.m.
